The substance will be added to the Candidate List by mid-July 2019.

Background

7 February 2019, the European Commission submitteda notification to the World Trade Organization (WTO), proposing to identify 4-tert-butylphenol(PTBP) as substance of very high concern.

13 March 2019, the European chemicals agency (ECHA) launched a public consultation on HFPO-DA, 2-methoxyethyl acetateand TNPP as to whether the substances will be included to the Candidate List of SVHC. The deadline for comments is 29 April 2019.

So far, ECHA has announced that HFPO-DA is determined to be SVHC, while the results of 2-methoxyethyl acetate, TNPP and PTBP proposed before have not been released.

Based upon past experience, ECHA will release a new batch of SVHCs, and add these substances to the candidate list bymid-July 2019. Enterprises should raise their risk awareness, and ensure that their products meet relevant compliance requirements. CTT will keep you updated with the latest information of REACH.
