Eu proposes to amend Annex XVII of REACH to add formaldehyde restrictions

On 2 May 2022, the European Commission submitted communication G/TBT/N/EU/888 to the World Trade Organization (WTO) proposing to amend annex XVII to REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 by adding restrictions on formaldehyde and formaldehyde releasing substances. The Final date for comments will be 60 days from notification and be intended to enter into force 20 days after publication in the Official Gazette of the EU.

The entry added for Annex XVII to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 is amended as follows:

In addition, the draft Regulation alsoproposes to add an appendix [X] to REACH, which provides the measurement of formaldehyde and formaldehyde releasing substances.
