On May 15, 2025, the European Commission reviewed and adopted a draft amendment to the POPs Regulation, explicitly listing Dechlorane Plus as a newly controlled substance. The draft proposes adding Dechlorane Plus to Annex I of the POPs Regulation. The EU will formally publish the amendment via the Official Journal to update the regulatory requirements under the POPs Regulation.
The following content is added to Part A of Annex I of the POPs Regulation:
Dechlorane Plus, a high-performance halogenated aliphatic flame retardant, is commonly used in flame retardant modifications for automotive plastics and resin materials.
