SVHC Candidate List Expands to 247 Substances

On January 21, 2025, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) released the 32nd update for  the Candidate List of substances of very high concern (SVHC) by adding five substances . Up to now,  the SVHC Candidate List contains 247 items in total.

Newly added SVHCs in the  32nd  update of Candidate List:

The six substances previously consulted, namely "Tris(4-nonylphenyl, branched and linear) phosphite", have been clarified in the evaluation that "Tris(4-nonylphenyl, branched and linear) phosphite" is an  endocrine disrupter, whether it is the substance or when it contains ≥ 0.1% of "4-nonylphenol, branched and linear".
Therefore, The  21st update SVHC substance namely "Tris(4-nonylphenyl, branched and linear) phosphite (TNPP) with ≥ 0.1% of 4-nonylphenol, branched and linear (4-NP)" has been updated to "Tris(4-nonylphenyl, branched and linear) phosphite".

About SVHC:

SVHC is short for "Substance of Very High Concern", which refers to substances of very high concern that pose risks to humans and the environment. In accordance with Article 7.2 of the REACH Regulation, when an article contains a substance in the SVHC list with a mass fraction of more than 0.1% and the substance enters the EU more than 1 tonne/year/company per year, the producer or importer of the article must notify ECHA.
In accordance with the EU REACH Regulation and the Waste Framework Directive, from 5 January 2021, articles placed on the EU market with concentrations of SVHC substances exceeding 0.1% must be notified to the ECHA for SCIP, and the information must be submitted to the SCIP database.
